Racism still exists.   Here is the definition in its simplest form.

Define Racism

Anyone ever take the time to notice that if there is a drug problem with people who aren’t white that it’s not really a “problem” and that you all wish to impose the harshest sentences?  Folks can die from overdoses all day and night but as long as it doesn’t affect YOUR community you’re cool with it and those that are unfortunate enough to continue on with the addiction you’d rather lock them up and throw away the key.  Yet, when it spills over into YOUR community “OMG, it’s an epidemic, a disease and it simply MUST be treated as a disease!”  Case in point, heroin addiction has been going on forever.  NOW it’s an issue because too many whites are dying and now they are asking for lighter sentencing and leniency.  From the parents of the addicted to law enforcement.  We been begging for help for decades.

The illusion that it doesn’t exist is what I like to call the Matrix.  It only LOOKS real but it isn’t.

Ever notice that this country has a history of when non white oppressed people protest, rebel against the machine/matrix we are called thugs, rabble rousers, etc and told to “go home?”  We literally ask you to treat us as humans (civil rights movement) and what happens?  We get murdered, attacked by dogs, sprayed with high-powered water hoses and jailed.  Why?  It’s as if you are telling us “but why do you want this to change, I see nothing wrong.”

Black lives matter movement.  The current request from Black America to STOP killing us.  What happens?  Police orchestrate riots and kill us so they can show the world that we are to be treated like “animals.” That is their justification for killing us in larger numbers than any other race in this country.  Don’t get us wrong, your lives matter too but not as much as ours do right now. So when you say “all lives matter” you are attempting to negate what we are saying.  Do you understand that if they stop killing US they will stop killing you in the small numbers that they do?

Here is another example of how racism is still alive today.  When one of us gets pulled over for a traffic stop we have to be VERY careful about our body language, what we do and what we say.  We have to ANNOUNCE what we are going to do and we have to MOVE slowly AND we have to basically DO what ever they tell us even if it IS a violation of the so-called rights we have in this country.  Video after video after video shows how if a non white person gets pulled over if we get mouthy we get yanked out the car.  If we try to assert the rights we THOUGHT we had, we get our window smashed, tazed AND yanked out the car, throw to the ground with a knee in our back and cuffed and while cuffed we get our shoulders practically ripped out the sockets.  If we get out the car without mouthing off, doing everything we are told, we are liable to get kicked in the face, as we are getting down on the ground, and have our teeth missing (yes there is video of this).

And every single time, the cop that did it gets to walk clean the f*ck away.  Why?  He feared for his life from an unarmed individual (and coincidentally I’m inclined to believe you gun loving, AK-47 toting folk are more likely to have a weapon than one of us).  That’s the lie they tell in their report.  Tamir Rice wasn’t a threat to anyone, yet he got shot less than 5 seconds after the cop arrived at the playground because some white person was “scared” of a little black kid with a toy gun. He didn’t even ask questions, didn’t approach him or anything.  Just opened fire and THEN asked questions.  It’s a damn wonder he didn’t try to plant a REAL gun on him.

And for the record, more WHITES kill whites than Black kill blacks so you can stop using that tired, lame ass statistic.  The reason being is that it’s the law of numbers.  It’s more of you than it is of us, and more of you are serial killers (that tend to kill your own than anyone else) than there are of us.  As a matter-of-fact, you all commit THE most crimes STRAIGHT across the board from white collar to violent than ANY OTHER RACE in this country.  Again, more of ya’ll than it is of us.

These are but a few examples of how racism still exists in this country.  Can it be fixed?  Sure it can.  The question is do YOU want to fix it or do you think that this country was only made for you?

I’m back.  Now let’s talk about White Privilege.

While most you take it as an affront when it’s mentioned because you think it’s some kind of character flaw or that you are being attacked on a personal level, that is far from the case.  White privilege is nothing more than you being given a slight advantage simply because of the color of your skin.  Again, it’s not about INDIVIDUAL experience it’s about COLLECTIVE experience.  No one cares how one particular store treated you ONCE when you went in there.  Everything isn’t about YOU the individual.

It exists whether you choose to acknowledge it or not just like racism does.  You can attempt to sweep it under the rug but that does not mean it isn’t there.  Like I said, it has just gone into hiding.

Many of you want to know what you can do about it.  I read something very interesting last night about what you can do.  The answer is to UNTEACH racism.  How?  Start by telling the truth.  You know that thing you all have an aversion to when it comes slavery and your heinous treatment of non-whites in this country.  Tell THAT truth because although slavery is the biggest stain on the fabric of the US, it isn’t THE only stain.

Tell the truth about slavery, tell the truth about how this country was founded and NOT just from the white man’s side of the tale, tell it ALL. Tell how Irish were treated (indentured servitude is NOT the same as slavery, more about that in a moment.)Tell how the Chinese were treated, tell the truth about how during WWII all Japanese Americans were put in camps because ya’ll were afraid they weren’t “loyal Americans.” Tell how Native Americans were treated and that the reason that they were eventually shuffled onto reservations and forgotten.  Tell the truth about Lincoln.  TELL IT ALL.  As my ex husband used to say “tell the truth and shame the devil.”

Once you tell it people will begin to see us as HUMANS not as heathens or animals that need to be saved from themselves or “rescued” then maybe you will change hearts.  Hopefully they will see WHY things are the way they are and WHY a lot of blacks are angry.

There is another thing you can STOP doing, that’s telling US to “get over” what was done and what is still being done to Blacks in this country.  You just changed how it looks versus what it USED to look like.  And STOP, when someone brings up white privilege or slavery interjecting with “Irish were slaves too.”  No, they were not.  Do you know that the difference is between indentured servitude and slavery?  One of them eventually gets to go free and the other is for life and those of their children and their children’s children.  THAT is the difference.  Stop trying to justify your ancestors bullsh! because all of your asses aren’t Irish either.

Stop treating us like animals.  Understand that this privilege is the reason why a lot of us are victims of the school-to-prison pipeline.  They treat black and brown students, male and female differently than they do their white counterparts.  Don’t get me wrong some of them need to have their behinds tore up from the floor up but guess what, you all made it a crime to discipline our children as we see fit.  That is why some of them are out of control.  That doesn’t mean treat them like animals though.  Just like there is a fine line between discipline and abuse, there is a fine line between control through terror and discipline.

Now let us talk about how racism STILL exists.  You just refuse to see it in its new form.  Take example, that school-to-prison pipeline is very real.  Test scores are used to determine the number of prisons needed in the future.  Studies, out of California have shown that black and brown students, as in the real world, are treated differently than their white peers as if setting them up to fail.  What I mean by that is offenses committed by black/brown students are dealt with swiftly and harshly versus if the same offense were committed by a white student.  THAT is the beginning.

Next installment:  We still talking about racism ya’ll

Dear Amerikka:

Let me start by saying this.  I am not racist.  I love to hate all people regardless of skin color.  I don’t judge people based on their skin, I base it on how they treat me.  Now that the formalities are out-of-the-way let’s get down to business shall we?

Let me start with White America.  This may not pertain to all of you so if it doesn’t then keep it moving.  If you are offended, that is your business but I aim to offend those that need offending.

You do not own this country (or this planet).  It was not made for you.  It was not made for you to be “Captain Save some damn body” because quite frankly folks were doing just fine before you came around.  Your ancestors created things to “save” people from.  It is still being done today.  Since you spread from your lands in Europe(some folks say caves) you have been nothing but a disease upon this planet.  Taking, robbing, raping, and spreading hate across this land.  Have you ever taken the time to stop and think that this is why you are so hated?

As I was explaining to a friend’s husband the other day, Muslims do not want you in their country.  Yet there we are under the guise of “spreading democracy” in their country.  We weren’t there to protect them, we were there to steal from them, put the person in power that our country could control (until he gets out of control) so we can get their natural resource.  They aren’t stupid.  And let’s be honest, Muslims don’t want to kill people of color.  Why?  They see our oppression.  They also see that we are not valued by ourselves (I’ll get to that momentarily) or anyone else.  They don’t kidnap us and make demands for shit and then when they don’t get it chop off our heads live on the internet.  They take white people.  If we happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, we are nothing more than collateral damage.  It doesn’t take a astrophysicist to figure it out.  All you have to do is pay attention.

You’re so worried about them “spreading” to the United States then maybe you should have left them alone.  Not all Muslim are extreme yet you want to lump them all in the same category, much like you do all Blacks. Latinos, Indians and Asians. Just like with you all,  all of YOU aren’t evil just like all of US aren’t either.  Yet we are all judged by the crazy ass few among the barrel.  We don’t view you all as serial killers since the profile of most are 35  year old white males.

Since we are on religion let’s talk about Christianity.  BOY do I have a lot to say about this.  Let’s start with it is one of the largest religions in the world (next to *gasp* Islam).  It also has different sects and some of them are extreme (you all like to call them cults).  It is also a religion of oppression.  It was used to justify slavery.  It was beaten into the slaves, it was shoved down the Native American’s throats.  People have killed and still kill in the name of it (the KKK is just a “misunderstood” Christian organization, let them tell it).  The history of that religion alone is enough to make your stomach turn.  I do have a question though, how is it that the very religion that didn’t seem to have issue with homosexuality (with priests molesting little boys, Kings only having Queens to procreate but was f*ckin the dude who wiped his ass on a regular) suddenly have issue with it NOW or any of the other things that were once “no big deal” seem to be a big ass deal now?  Don’t tell me that the New Testament blah blah blah…because you still refer to the Old one too.  And, um, WHERE it the rest of the Book?!?

Don’t get me wrong, if it gives you comfort, do that.  I just can’t really fathom continuing to act as though these things somehow magically disappeared once you people were FORCED to treat us like humans.  The hate is still in your hearts and the fact that racism is alive and very well in this country only means that the laws made that shit go underground.

Next up in part 2 we are going to talk about White Privilege.  Why it is real, why no one gives a damn if your ancestors didn’t come here, start here or any other excuse you can come up with, your skin alone gives you the advantage.  It is not about INDIVIDUAL experience it is about COLLECTIVE experience.

Since I’ve been gone….   1 comment

Hello Folks!

Double E took a bit of a hiatus to work through life BUT I’m back!  Did you miss me?  I missed you!

A lot has been going on in the last two years that I’ve been away, sadly not a whole lot has changed except I see a few more of my people have “woke up.”  That is a definitely a good thing.

Now, let’s get down to business.  Since I’ve been gone…

Social media  has played an integral part of getting the story of how police officers have been systematically murdering young black men and women and getting away with it.  Oddly enough, the explosion of social media playing a part in getting the word out about these murders did not start with police officers but a “wanna be” community watch “guard” who shot an innocent young black man who had nothing on him but a hoodie, a bag of Skittles and an Arizona tea because he had just come from the store.  His only crime?  He was black and he looked “suspicious” and the community watchman believed he was in the wrong neighborhood. Plus the loser couldn’t fight and picked one with this kid and got his ass whipped by a teenage boy.  That’s why I think he shot him.  That’s why many of us think he shot him, because he lost a fight.

His name?  Trayvon Martin.

We don’t care about the man who shot him because karma is working on him as I type this and has been since he was acquitted of his murder.  And I refuse to dirty my blog with the use of his filthy name.

This single murder, in my opinion, forced what was happening to young black men and women across the country into the spotlight.  Things my community have been saying since “they set us free” but no one was listening and many probably believed that we were making it up.

Even in 1991 when Rodney King was mercilessly beaten by the police in LA after a high-speed chase was captured on film by a bystander (thus issuing in the “cameras up to record the police” era), we still got no justice.  We learned then that no matter WHAT is captured on video, it was no absolute guarantee that the police would be held accountable for their brutality.

I mean, why should they?  They police themselves.  It’s about as effective as Congress having the ability to dole out raises to federal government workers.  They deny all other government workers a raise but they give themselves a fat one.  It works for THEM but not so much for the other government workers.

Since Rodney King and even before him there have been hundreds of unarmed black men and women killed by the police and nothing done.
